New codes pave way for payment for immunization counseling when vaccines aren’t administered (AAP News, posted 12/15/25)

December 15, 2025 – On January 1, 2026, three new Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes will take effect, representing standalone immunization counseling performed by a physician or other qualified health care professional (QHP). Click here to read more.

For years, pediatricians have faced hurdles in getting paid for immunization counseling when no immunization is administered. That will change on Jan. 1 when three new Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes take effect
